What We Do

We train young people on how to stand out, brand themselves, create a niche of whom they are, what they are and how to communicate whom they are. We make sure that they build their confidence, something that put them at a better place to compete with others on the areas of employment or business management.

Most young people fail to get jobs due to lack of people’s skills. To enable them communicate well: Development Associates for Young Africans ensures that youth go through a curriculum that teaches them to communicate well with people of different cadre with an aim of achieving organizational objectives and goals.

Poorly done Curriculum vitae/Resume denies majority of young people employment opportunities in Kenya and Africa. Our well trained facilitators ensures that youth who pass through our class acquire necessary skills to develop attractive CV. This enable our graduates to compete in the job market.

Upon completion and graduation, we link our beneficiaries to local companies and organizations as employees

Over the past years our alumni have proved to be top performers in areas like dress making, data entries, front office administrators, cleaners etc.

Our PROGRAMS

Ready To Work

RTW is an employability and entrepreneurship program aimed at preparing young people who have completed secondary education, those not in training, not in employment, finalists at TIVET but have completed different level of schooling for immediate entry into the workforce as employees and employers of labor. It also prepare those who did not complete schooling but do have special skills that can be taped to start their own enterprises and run them effectively through entrepreneurship skills training.

The program equips them with market-aligned knowledge, soft skills, business tools, and a mindset reorientation to the world of work.

In partnership with a network of stakeholders, this initiative made its debut in 2018, hosting 500 youth and linking 120 of these youth to formal employment others were placed in internship and apprenticeship opportunities in various organizations in Kenya.

Digital skills training

Digital literacy training skills-in partnership with Google Africa through Africa 118 we have in cooperated digital marketing skills, something that is new and has propelled new businesses to another level where there is market. Because today’s world is a digital world, with nearly half the world online. With so many people using the internet, it makes sense for a business to tap into digital. Find out what opportunities exist and how a website, videos or social media could help you reach your goals.

There are many ways to promote a business online. But before you can get started, you should familiarize yourself with how these digital channels work, which options are best suited to you, and how to set up a clear plan or strategy that will help you achieve your goals and assess your results.

From websites to local listings; mobile apps to social media, there are lots of ways to be found online.

Micro farming

Development Associates for Young Africans has also partnered with Kenya Papaya Products Limited, a private limited company that process pawpaw fruits in to pawpaw jam. 

Development Associates therefore train young people in rural Nyanza and western Kenya in pawpaw farming where in a small piece of land i.e an eighth of an acre, we plant 125 trees which gives an average production of KES 500,000-800,000/- annually. This has proven to be the best way to grow young people out of poverty

our achievements

Since March 2018, we have trained and coached thousands of youths in Kibera, Mathare, Korogocho,Juja, Kiambu and Thika. The training is tailor made using ready to work employ ability curriculum for youth development. 

In partnership with LVCT health through dreams project, DAY-AFRICA has successfully linked over 100 young women and girls to formal employment.
